It had a Roman Officer on the front and knowing my love of all things Roman, she bought it for me. I started out as a read if duty, but soon began to warm to the book.
Clearly what I would describe as a pro-Christian story; I believe the author's father was a vicar. Basically it is about a search to establish just what Jesus was doing between childhood and his final ministry in an attempt to uncover him as a charlatan. About John Blackburn. John Blackburn. John Blackburn was born in in the village of Corbridge, England, the second son of a clergyman. Blackburn attended Haileybury College near London beginning in , but his education was interrupted by the onset of World War II; the shadow of the war, and that of Nazi Germany, would later play a role in many of his works.
Hardly any rain had come, and the vegetation was as dry as it normally would be at the height of summer. At the site of the fire early that morning, firefighters reported 35 mph winds. The winds would peak at mph that day, whisking the swelling flames down the Feather River canyon toward the small towns at its base. Winds like that are not abnormal for fall and winter in California, Shoemaker said, when the Great Basin desert is cooler than the California coast. Cooler, high pressure air over Nevada and Utah flows toward the warmer, lower pressure air on the coast, and that creates the wind.
As it flows downhill, the air gets hotter and dryer.

For hours, firefighters could only try to save lives. There was nothing they could do to contain the erratic, wind-whipped blaze. By then, Northern California has usually had enough rain and snow to prevent fires, and their firefighters are available to help out down south. Not this time.
The Flame and The Wind
Thursday, as the Camp Fire continued to rage uncontrolled in and around Paradise, two brush fires broke out 40 miles northwest of Los Angeles. Stoked by the same hot, dry winds—called Santa Anas in Southern California—they spread. Fourteen miles to the east, the Woolsey fire began on a hillside next to the old Santa Susana Field Lab, a hazardous site in Ventura County contaminated by decades of rocket and nuclear reactor testing and a partial meltdown in At first, the Hill fire was the more worrisome, quickly burning through square miles.
But as it entered the 24,acre footprint of a major fire, it had far less fuel to burn.
The Woolsey fire took center stage, raging south through the endless suburban sprawl, and jumping the Freeway in several places. The multi-agency firefighting force in Southern California has been called the most robust in the world. But still, their resources have been strained. It became the largest wildfire in California's recorded history.
